Exporting your Shopify Payments statements

v1.1Updated Sep 4, 2026

Export the last three full months of Shopify Payments activity for your NEXT Payments application.

Before you start

NEXT uses recent Shopify Payments activity during underwriting. Export the data from Shopify admin instead of sending screenshots.

What we need

The last three full calendar months of Shopify Payments activity. The activity report PDF is preferred; a transactions CSV also works.

Who can pull it

A Shopify user with View Shopify Payments payouts access. Other dependent permissions may also be required by Shopify.

Date range

Choose the last three full calendar months. Skip the current partial month.

Where to send it

Use the upload method your NEXT onboarding contact gave you. If your onboarding is in Slack, use the shared channel.

Use Shopify's current permissions

If you cannot open payouts or transactions, ask the store owner to grant the Shopify Payments payout permissions or export the files for you.

Option A: Shopify Payments activity report

Use this period-level report for the underwriting submission. It summarizes starting balance, gross activity, fees, payouts, net movement, and ending balance.

Log in to your Shopify admin

Go to admin.shopify.com/store/<your-store> and sign in with an account that can view Shopify Payments payouts.

Open Finance documents

Go to Finance > Documents, then choose Shopify Payments activity report.

Set the date range

Choose the last three full calendar months. If the store receives payouts in more than one currency, select each payout currency and export it separately.

Export the report

Choose Export to PDF.

Check the files

Confirm that the report covers the right dates and payout currency before sending it.

Balance activity is not revenue

The activity report tracks money moving through Shopify Payments. It is not a revenue statement, and its dates may not match order or bank-deposit reports.

Option B: transaction export

Use this path when NEXT asks for transaction-level detail.

Open payout transactions

Go to Settings > Payments > View payouts, then choose View transactions.

Filter the last three months

Set the date range to the last three full calendar months. Apply any filter requested by your NEXT onboarding contact.

Export the filtered CSV

Choose Export, select the range and CSV type, then choose Export balance transactions. Shopify emails the CSV to you and the store owner.

Send us the CSV

One file covering the full period is fine. If Shopify splits the export, send every file.

What to send us

Format

Shopify Payments activity report PDF, or a transactions CSV if requested.

Time window

The last three full calendar months. Skip the current, partial month.

Channel

Use the secure channel specified by your NEXT onboarding contact.

Don't send

Screenshots. NEXT needs the exported data.

Protect the export

Payment exports contain sensitive business data. Send them only through the channel agreed with your onboarding contact.

Send it via Slack

You already have a shared Slack channel with NEXT

Upload the files to the channel and tag your onboarding contact.

You don't have a shared channel yet

Ask your NEXT onboarding contact where to upload the files. Do not send payment data to an unconfirmed address or channel.

Large files

If an export is too large for the agreed channel, split it by month or ask your onboarding contact for another upload method.

Troubleshooting

"I only see Shop Pay Installments, not Shopify Payments"

Those are different products. If your store does not use Shopify Payments for card processing, tell your NEXT onboarding contact so they can confirm an alternative.

"I cannot open payouts"

Ask the store owner to grant View Shopify Payments payouts access and any permissions Shopify requires with it, or ask the owner to export the files.

"I'm on Shopify Starter or POS-only"

Tell your NEXT onboarding contact. They will confirm which export is suitable for your account.

"My statement covers only a few days"

You probably exported the current partial month by accident. Re-export using the last three full calendar months (skip the one we're in).

"Shopify's UI doesn't match these steps"

Access can vary by role and region. Use Shopify's current payout instructions below or ask the store owner to run the export.
